Testimonials To the River Station, As a party/giver of parties and events (personal and for charitable organizations over many years)...in Charlottesville, Virginia....I had a dilemma. My husband and I were faced with choosing a venue in Poughkeepsie, NY for my sons rehearsal dinner to be held May 15th, 2009. Never having been to Poughkeepsie or new york for that matter, I was finding this to be a daunting task. And then .....my son and daughter-in-law gave me the name of their favorite restaurant on the
waterfront.....
My concern lasted only until I began my correspondence with Stacy and Kevin Kihlmire....owners and operators of THE RIVER STATION or Capt. Cliffy's River Station as it is still sometimes called.
After one conversation and two emails with Stacy...my worries melted away. It was absolutely certain this was the Perfect place and these were the Perfect people to carry out the plans I was making for this special meal!
The rest is history......and I write this letter as a completely satisfied customer in every way? If I made a performance chart, it would read like this:
Communication, Atmoshere, Preparation, Food (quality,quantity,presentation,price), Service (quality,efficiency,knowledge,skill), Attention to detail, Parking, Location.
FIVE STARS in every single category would be given to the owners and personnel at the River Station ...... this outstanding anchor of the Poughkeepsie Waterfrom since 1905.

To: Servers.....Meghan,Courtney and Danielle R. - Professional,capable,sensitive and attentive.....those words only begin to describe you. Each of you is a credit to the River Station employment team. The smoothness with which you served and handled each aspect of the evening was an amazing process to watch. We will be forever gratefull to you.
To: Pat.....I've "thrown and attended" many events over the years...but.....never before has any one of them managed as well as this Rehearsal Dinner. You are a master at your job and I will long remember all the details and requests that you honored for me. You are indeed A JEWEL in the River Station organization! How can I possibly say enough Thank You's for a night so well done!!!
To: Stacy and Kevin.....Restuarant Extraordinaire.....What a well-oiled machine you run!! From day one, I had an overwhelming sense that you were "ON TOP" of all the aspects of my dinner. ou understood right away that this event was much more than just a rehearsal dinner...but a celebration honoring my son and his bride-to-be.
My Virgina Supper by the Hudson was a tremendous success and I give full credit to you and your staff. You listened to my needs, my wishes, my ideas...and incorporated them all into and unforgettable evening for all of us....a professional relationship has now become a friendship. Your servers were fantastic. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Everyone commented on the food saying how good it was. Scott and I never got a chance to eat!! Dear Kevin, I am writing you on behalf of Cheryl and myself to thank you for an outstanding job done. You can only imagine how much you made our special day one to impress our guests. Every guest could not compliment the fare at our reception enough from the hors d'oeurves to the main course to the venetian table. Both the band and the site coordinator at our wedding have begun to recommend you to others based on what you did for us. As you know, our wedding day was a very busy day for Cheryl and myself and I am especially happy that we were able to take the time to enjoy the excellent meal you prepared for us. Furthermore, Cheryl and I, as well as our guests, were very impressed with the linens and table presentations you prepared that day. Cheryl is still receiving compliments about them. Lastly, your servers were both extremely helpful and extremely prompt with their service. I was in awe of how fast everything went off and cleaned up without a hitch. July 1, 2008 Dear Pat & Cindy I want to take this oppornuity to say a hearty thank you to Pat and Cindy, as well as your staff at River Station for the wonderful service you gave us at the Anne Buchholtz Citizen of the Year Award Brunch on Sunday, June 22, 2008, honoring Roger Higgins, Democratic Majority Leader of the Dutchess County Legislature. Everything was superb from start to finish. Cindy was terrific in planning and pricing the menu. She listened to our every need and supplied advice and comfort throughout the planning stages. Pat was great at managing the table set-up, the speaker system and the general logistics of the room. Moreover, the waitresses were truely patient, helpful and professional in catering to all our needs and they did it with a smile. The food was varied, bountiful and delicious and lastly, the panoramic view of the Hudson River was remarkable. All in all, it was an impeccably-presented affair. The staff was considerably helpful, informative and just plain old-fashioned nice. The atmosphere of the upstairs room was fabulous. "Many thanks to Cindy and her staff who pulled off THE BEST EVER retirement party on June 16th for our beloved colleague. We received numerous glowing comments on the high quality of all the food, the great presentation, the quantity of food and wonderful ambiance. Working with Cindy was an absolute pleasure. She is very organized and reliable and really listens carefully to her customers. We had a non-dairy food request and Cindy personally checked with the chef to make sure this was adhered to.
